Column Charts and Bar Charts are among the most commonly used charts in Microsoft Excel. Both charts are used to compare values between different categories. The main difference is the direction in which the data is displayed.
Column Chart
A Column Chart displays data using vertical columns. It is useful for comparing values across different categories and showing changes over time.
When to Use a Column Chart
- Compare sales of different products.
- Compare marks of students.
- Compare monthly or yearly performance.
- Show trends over time.

Steps to Create a Column Chart

A Bar Chart displays data using horizontal bars. It is useful when category names are long or when comparing a large number of categories.
When to Use a Bar Chart
