A Compound Unit is used when two units of measurement are related
through a conversion factor.
Example: 1 Kg = 1000 Gm
Compound units are useful when stock is purchased in one unit
and sold in another unit.
🛠 How to Create a Compound Unit (While Creating Stock Item)
🪜 Step-by-Step Procedure
- While creating a Stock Item, go to the Units field.
- Press Alt + C to create a Unit Master on the fly.
- The Unit Creation (Secondary) screen will open.
- If the Type is selected as Simple,
press Backspace and change it to Compound. - First Unit:
Enter the main unit (Example: Kg). - Conversion:
Enter the conversion value (Example: 1000). - Second Unit:
Enter the smaller unit (Example: Gm). - Press Y to accept.
Or press Ctrl + A to save the Compound Unit.


📌 Example
- First Unit: Kg
- Conversion: 1000
- Second Unit: Gm
This means: 1 Kg = 1000 Gm
📊 Multiple Level Compound Units
Compound units can be created at multiple levels, such as:
- Milligram
- Gram
- Kilogram
- Quintal
- Tonne
