Stock Journal (Inventory Voucher) / Alt + F7
✅ Stock Journal used to record stock transfers from one location to another location. company transfers items of stock from the warehouse to shop OR Godown to Show Room. Inventory Voucher used to record:

Transfer of stock from one location to another

Consumption of raw materials

Production of finished goods

Stock adjustment (increase/decrease)

Repacking or conversion of goods
👉 It does not affect cash or bank accounts.
👉 It only affects Inventory (Stock Items & Godowns).

This is called Internal Stock Transfer.

Godown Create
What is Godown in TallyPrime?
✅ Godown is referred for the where stock items are stored. It specifying the where the stock items are kept like a…. Warehouse, shop, Showroom.
You can create individual godowns or multiple godowns. You can use Godowns/Locations to create a hierarchy for shelves, bins, and even different sections of a warehouse.
TallyPrime by default maintains an internal godown named Main Location. Specified location also you CAN create
It can be:

👉 In simple words:
Godown = Location where inventory is kept
🔹 Default Godown in TallyPrime
By default, TallyPrime creates one internal location called:
➤ Main Location
If you do not create additional godowns, all stock will be stored under Main Location.

You can create:

🔹 Steps to Create Godown in TallyPrime

Go to Gateway of Tally
-
Select Create
-
Choose Godown
OR
Press Alt + G → Create Master → Godown
Fill Details:

Name: Warehouse
-
Under: Main Location
-
Press Ctrl + A to Save
Transfer of Materials
Transfer of materials from one location to another
In your business, you may be transferring materials from one location to another for which you can record a Stock Journal voucher at the origin location to keep your books updated.
- Press Alt+G (Go To) > Create Voucher > press Alt+F7 (Stock Journal).
Alternatively, Gateway of Tally > Vouchers > press Alt+F7 (Stock Journal).
In case the voucher is inactive, you will be prompted to activate the voucher type.
Select Yes or press Y to proceed. - Press F2 (Date) and change the date, if needed.
- Enter the reference number in Reference No. field, if any.
- If you do not see this option, press F12 (Configure) > set the option Provide Reference No. and Date as Yes.
- If you need to use this option only for the current voucher, press Ctrl+I (More Details) > type or select Provide Reference No. and Date > and press Enter.
- Provide the details of the goods at the source.
- Source (Consumption): select the items and the location from where you are transferring the goods.
- Specify Quantity.
The Rate and Amount field gets prefilled if you have specified it for the goods selected.
- Provide the details of the goods at the destination.
- Destination (Production): select the items and the location to where the goods should be sent.
- Provide Narration, if needed.

- As always, press Ctrl+A to save.
