Receipt  Vouchers – F6

Record a Receipt Voucher – (F6) – TallyPrime

A Receipt Voucher is documentary evidence that confirms the business has received money, and it creates a valid accounting record of that inflow.

It serves three important purposes:

  1. Financial Recording – Updates Cash/Bank balance

  2. Legal Evidence – Proof of money received

  3. Accounting Control – Maintains accuracy of books

In business, receipts are recorded for Commission, Bank Interest, Discounts Received, Receipts from Customers, Capital Introduced, and more.

TallyPrime allows you to record receipts in Single Entry or
Double Entry mode.

1️⃣ Commission Received in Cash

  • Cash A/c → Debit ₹3,500
  • Commission Income A/c → Credit ₹3,500

2️⃣ Capital Introduced by Owner

  • Cash A/c → Debit ₹50,000
  • Capital A/c → Credit ₹50,000

3️⃣ Bank Interest Received

  • Bank A/c → Debit ₹1,200
  • Interest Income A/c → Credit ₹1,200

4️⃣ Advance Received from Customer

  • Bank A/c → Debit ₹20,000
  • Mohan A/c → Credit ₹20,000

1️⃣ Cash Receipt – Single Entry Mode

Example:
Cash Received ₹4,500 for Bank Interest on 01-04-2025.

  1. Open the Receipt Voucher in single entry mode.
    1. Press Alt+G (Go To)> Create Voucher > press F6 (Receipt).
      Alternatively, Gateway of Tally > Vouchers > press F6 (Receipt).
    2. Press Ctrl+H (Change Mode) > select Single Entry.
  2. Select the Cash account and Income account.
    1. In the Accountfield, select the Cash ledger.
    2. Under Particulars, select the Income ledgers, and enter the corresponding amounts.
  3. Accept the screen. As always, you can press Ctrl+A to save the receipt voucher.

2️⃣ Bank Receipt – Single Entry Mode

You can receive bank receipts and record them using Receipt Vouchers. Select the Bank account under the Account field and income or party ledger under Particulars. In the Bank Allocation screen, you can specify the transaction type as well as other details such as the instrument number if you received the funds by cheque.

1️ Interest Received from Bank

Transaction:
Bank credited interest ₹1,200 on 05-04-2025.

Accounting Effect:

  • Bank A/c → Debit ₹1,200
  • Interest Income A/c → Credit ₹1,200

2️Advance Received from Customer (Bank)

Transaction:
Received advance ₹20,000 by bank transfer from Mohan on 10-04-2025.

Accounting Effect:

  • Bank A/c → Debit ₹20,000
  • Mohan A/c → Credit ₹20,000

Example:
₹4,500 received  Bank Interest on 01-04-2025 through Canara Bank.

  1. Open Receipt Voucher:
    • Press F6
    • Press Ctrl + H → Select Single Entry
  2. Press F12 (Configure) → Enable “Set Ledger-wise Bank Allocations”.
  3. Select Ledgers:
    • Account → Select Bank Ledger
    • Particulars → Select Income or Party Ledger
    • Enter Amount
  4. Bank Allocation Screen:
    • Select Transaction Type (Cheque / NEFT / RTGS / UPI)
    • Enter Instrument DetailsBank-Allocations-Receipt-entry  
      • Press Ctrl + A
  5. Press Ctrl + A to Save Voucher.

3️⃣ Receipt – Double Entry Mode

  1. Open Receipt Voucher → Press F6
  2. Press Ctrl + H → Select Double Entry
  3. Record Entry:
    • Debit: Cash/Bank Ledger
    • Credit: Income/Party Ledger
  4. Press Ctrl + A to Save.

🖨 Printing a Receipt

  1. Enable “Print voucher after saving” in Receipt Voucher Type.
  2. Record and Save Voucher.
  3. Select:
    • C – Configure
    • I – Preview
    • P – Print

Receipt Register

Receipt Register is a monthly report showing receipt transactions.
You can drill down and modify vouchers if required.

  • Press Alt + G → Type Receipt Register
  • OR Gateway of Tally → Display More Reports → Account Books → Receipt Register

• F6 is used to record Receipt Voucher.
• Cash/Bank is always Debited in Receipt Voucher.
• Income or Party is Credited.
• Receipt Register shows monthly receipt transactions.
