✅ Create a Stock  Group

📦 Stock Group

Stock Items can be grouped together under a Stock Group to classify them
based on common features. Creating a Stock Group is not mandatory
to create a Stock Item in TallyPrime.

If you create stock items without defining any Stock Group, TallyPrime automatically
places them under an internal default group called Primary.

📋 Examples of Stock Groups

  • Men Wear
  • Women Wear
  • Kids Wear
  • Lighting
  • Wiring
  • Computer Accessories
  • Food Grain

🛠 How to Create Stock Groups in TallyPrime

🪜 Step-by-Step Procedure

  1. Go to Gateway of Tally → Select Create
Type or Select Stock Group → Press Enter.
    Alternative: Press Alt + G
Create Master → Select Stock Group.
  2. Name & Alias:
Enter the name of the Stock Group.
You can also provide one or more Alias names if required.
  3. Under:
Select Primary or any existing Stock Group.
If no Stock Group exists, select Primary.
  4. Should quantities of items be added?
This option decides whether quantities of all stock items under this group
    can be totaled together.
    • Select Yes only if all items use the same Unit of Measurement.
    • Select No if units are different.

Example: Quantities in Kgs cannot be added with quantities in Nos/Pcs.

  5. Set/Alter GST Details:
Enable this option if you want to define a common GST rate for all items
    under this Stock Group.
  6. Press Ctrl + A to Accept and Save the Stock Group.
